Meet Peggy, a 26-year-old woman from Beijing, China, who has embarked on a unique adventure to provide companionship and support to those in need. In a world where personal connections can be rare, Peggy offers her services for a nominal fee of just one yuan (11 rupees) on the popular Chinese social media platform, Xiaohongshu.
Peggy’s motive is simple but powerful. Because?
Its aim is to accompany people who are reluctant to venture out alone and participate in activities that give them a sense of vitality. Since May, he has been dedicated to this effort, with the goal of creating meaningful and memorable customer experiences.
“I want to accompany people to do things they don’t dare to do alone. It’s about breaking down barriers and rediscovering what makes us truly alive.” Peggy explained in an interview with Jiupai News.
Peggy’s mission is to ensure that her activities have genuine meaning to those who seek her help.
So far, Peggy has helped three people with different aspirations.
The first was a shy programmer who wanted to sell balloons in a park.
The second was a lonely college graduate determined to conquer rock climbing. Finally, a man asked Peggy to accompany him to a McDonald’s Children’s Day gaming event.
When asked about her selection process, Peggy revealed that she turned down requests from people who wanted to share a meal.

Peggy’s company is not just about helping others, but also about a personal challenge for herself.
According to the South China Morning Post, Peggy had a hard time finding stable employment in Urumqi after graduating from university in Beijing.
Disappointed with unsatisfactory jobs, she returned to Beijing in 2021, in search of the true meaning of life.
Despite the minimal fee of one yuan, Peggy explained that it has symbolic value and adds a sense of ritual to the experience. All expenses incurred during her shared activities are divided between Peggy and the person she accompanies.
In recent years, partner rentals, where individuals temporarily rent a boyfriend or girlfriend, have gained popularity.
