Chris Christie, a former aide to the former governor of New Jersey, was arrested this month for allegedly paying for a photograph of a 6-year-old girl being sexually abused.
Kevin Tomafsky, 41, was captured on Aug. 15 after a grand jury indicted him in July on multiple counts of child sexual abuse, according to court reports obtained by the New Jersey Globe.
Tomafsky had been under investigation since October 2022, when Snapchat reported the upload of alleged child sexual abuse to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which was then forwarded to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office.
Tomafsky allegedly received a photo on the app of a young girl performing oral sex on an adult after the Gloucester prosecutor’s office reviewed records provided by Snapchat, the outlet reported.
When authorities executed a search warrant in December at the home Tomafsky shares with his mother, they allegedly found fewer than 1,000 items of child sexual abuse material.
Tomafsky was reportedly charged with engaging in sexual conduct with a child, conspiracy to endanger the welfare of a child, allowing a child to engage in pornography, and possession of child pornography.

A second individual was charged with six criminal counts, including knowingly committing the act of sexual penetration on the 6-year-old child and photographing a child engaging in a sexual act.
Citing three sources, the Globe identified the second suspect as the victim’s father.
Tomafsky is currently being held at the Salem County Correctional Facility in Mannington.
According to the outlet, the alleged child predator was an employee of the Christie administration from 2010 to 2012. He worked in the scheduling office, managing substitutes who represented the governor at events.

He was then hired for 11 months as a government and community relations representative at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, on the recommendation of Christie’s office.
Tomafsky’s last string of jobs included legislative director for Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi (R-Vineland) and president of the Washington Township Republican Club, while also working on Republican political campaigns.
He was working in an undisclosed government position until Friday, when he resigned.
