Comer wants Biden impeached and gives more details on family loans: “This is going to be a great week”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer says he wants Congress to impeach President Biden as he scoffs at subpoenas against the first family over their overseas business dealings.

Comer (R-Ky.) is leading an impeachment inquiry into the president, a fact-finding mission into whether Joe Biden engaged in influence-peddling schemes during his tenure as vice president.

“I think he should do it, but that will be up to the president,” Comer told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” when asked about impeachment. “People ask me why I haven’t put anyone in jail yet. The only thing I can do is investigate.”

In American history, there have only been four presidential impeachments, three of which occurred over the past 25 years, including the last two against former President Donald Trump.

Newly crowned President Mike Johnson (R-La.) has refrained from endorsing formal impeachment of Biden for now, but indicated a decision will be made “very soon.”

Comer joked that “subpoenas are imminent” and that “this is going to be a great week.”

So far, his panel has refrained from directly subpoenaing Hunter Biden or members of the first family to testify.

At one point, presenter María Bartiromo told Comer: “[the president] He says he never talked about business with his son, he was never in business with his son. Is she thinking about calling them and getting subpoenas?

“Absolutely,” Comer responded. “We’ve always planned to do that.”

Comer is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee that has been examining the Biden family’s businesses since the GOP took over the House earlier this year.

Comer again made bold claims about what congressional investigators have discovered about the Biden family.

“We have cited bank accounts. And now we have enough bank accounts, Maria, where we can track the money,” she added, accusing the Biden family of “money laundering.”

“This was a highly organized criminal enterprise by the Biden family. This wasn’t just a drug addict making concoctions and engaging in crazy transactions. “This was very organized.”

Joe Biden insisted he was not involved in his son Hunter’s overseas business machinations.

The White House has strongly denied Comer’s allegations against the president’s first family, accusing him of making outlandish claims and then failing to back them up with evidence.

“Comer’s lies and conspiracy theories are becoming more desperate every day,” White House spokesperson. Ian Sams posted on X last week.

Sams’ swipe at Comer came in response to an Oversight Committee memo that alleged the president received $40,000 in “laundered” funds from Chinese government-linked CEFC China Energy in 2017, while he was out of office.

The Post has contacted the White House for comment.

Comer also maintained that the president will have to respond to the public about the conditions of the loans.

“The next big question the Biden family, including Joe Biden, will have to answer to the American people is: What exactly are the terms of these loans? What type of documentation do you have on these loans? Comer said.

The White House has soured on House Republicans, accusing them of distorting the first family’s finances.

Hunter Biden, his scandal-plagued first son, recently wrote an op-ed lamenting the scrutiny he has received and accused Republicans of “weaponizing” his fight against drug addiction.

“My struggles and my mistakes have been fodder for a vile and sustained misinformation campaign against [President Biden]and a complete annihilation of my reputation through sharp but fruitless Congressional investigations and, most recently, criminal charges for possession of an unloaded gun for 11 days five years ago, charges that appear to be the first of their kind filed. in Delaware history,” he wrote in a USA Today article.

Joe Biden is the undisputed favorite to be his party’s standard bearer in 2024.

Recent polls from the New York Times and Sienna College show the incumbent president trailing Trump, the GOP front-runner, in five of six key battleground states.
