In 2023, Zomato shared its food ordering trends and highlighted a Mumbai man who used the food delivery app to place 3,580 orders, more than nine orders a day.
Zomato named the man, who called himself Hanees, the “country’s biggest foodie” in 2023. Another man from Mumbai, who placed 121 orders in a single day, made it to the annual report.
Zomato shared some interesting findings from elsewhere, stating that Delhi had the highest number of evening orders and Bengaluru had the highest number of breakfast orders.
Also, a Bengaluru resident placed the largest order Zomato has received this year, for Rs 46,273. Using Zomato, a consumer from another city submitted 1,389 gift orders totaling Rs 6.6 lakh.

Over 10.09 million biryani orders and over 7.45 million pizza orders were placed on Zomato in 2023, indicating that these two foods were the top trends in food orders.
According to Zomato, the amount of biryani ordered in 2023 can fill eight Qutub Minar in Delhi, and pizza can fill more than five Eden Garden cricket stadiums in Kolkata. Noodle bowls took the third spot with over Rs 4.55 crore. The delivery giant claimed it was enough noodles to wrap around the world 22 times.
According to Swiggy’s year-end report, which has just been released, the most popular dish on the food delivery service was also biryani for the eighth consecutive year. In 2023, India placed 2.5 biryani orders per second.

This year, a guy in Hyderabad ordered 1,633 biryanis. Hyderabad had the highest number of biryani orders from Swiggy, with the city placing one in every six orders for the food.
