Kumar was passionate about acting since his childhood. During his college days, he used to write poetry and perform it on stage. Later, he joined NK Sharma’s ‘Act 1’ theater group in Delhi and worked for 2-3 years. Later, he moved to Mumbai at the age of 24 to pursue his acting career. In Mumbai, he joined Neena Gupta’s theater Sahaj Productions. He also joined his dream group, Naseeruddin Shah’s ‘Motley’.
He got his break in Bollywood with the 2014 film ‘Maria Kom‘ where he worked alongside Priyanka Chopra and played the role of Marycom’s husband Onler, who is a football player. This film opened the door for her career in Bollywood and brought her recognition and fame. After this, she got the opportunity to be a part of many other successful movies like NH 10, Juliet Mirza, Sarbjit, Baaghi 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, etc
