Dave Chappelle fans leave after he criticizes Israel’s ‘war crimes’ in Gaza and pro-Palestinians lose job offers: report

They didn’t laugh.

Comedian Dave Chappelle criticized the United States for supporting Israel’s “war crimes” against the Palestinians during a live performance in Boston on Thursday, prompting some audience members to walk out, according to a report.

The controversial comedian made the comments during a show at TD Garden on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Chappelle condemned the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel that left some 1,400 Israelis dead, but criticized what he claimed were Israeli war crimes in Gaza, prompting some reaction from the crowd, aides told the outlet.

The uproar began when an audience member told Chappelle to “shut up” after he said he didn’t think people should lose their jobs for supporting Palestinians, according to the Journal.

Chappelle, in response, criticized the Israeli government’s decision to cut off food, water and electricity to Gaza.

He also accused Israel of killing innocent civilians and committing war crimes, according to the report.

More than 4,300 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict as the Israel Defense Forces have relentlessly pounded the enclave with more than 6,000 bombs. Among the dead are women and children, according to Palestinian authorities.

Other audience members cheered and shouted “Free Palestine!” while others responded: “What about Hamas?” witnesses told the Journal.

Some audience members left after the raucous moment.

A portion of Chappelle’s scheduled events includes a show on October 19 at Boston’s TD Garden.

Towards the end of the show, Chappelle reportedly said that two wrongs don’t make a right, in reference to the Hamas attacks and Israel’s subsequent military response.

A spokesperson for Chappelle told the outlet that the comedian “denies having been in Boston” that night, even though the show is listed among his box office dates.
