Detransitioner Slams Ohio Gov. DeWine as ‘Complicit’ in Child ‘Mutilation’ After Vetoing Ban on Gender-Affirming Care

Detransitionist Chloe Cole had some harsh words to offer Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine days after rejecting a bill that would have banned gender-affirming child care in her state, criticizing his decision for allegedly being “complicit.” of “sterilization and mutilation”. ” children’s.

“Parents do not have the right to abuse their children. This is no different than any form of abuse,” Cole said Sunday on “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

“This is the sterilization and mutilation of thousands of children that occurs within a State that is being totally complicit in the decision to continue with this.”

DeWine, a Republican, vetoed the GOP-backed Saving Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act on Friday, sparking outrage from conservatives who criticized him as a “coward” for his decision.

The bill would have banned gender affirmation procedures for minors in the Buckeye State and would have additionally banned transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.

“If I were to sign House Substitute Bill 68 or if House Substitute Bill 68 were to become law, Ohio would be saying that the State, that the government, knows what is best from the standpoint of doctor for a child instead of the two people who love that child the most. , the parents,” DeWine said in his veto message.

Additionally, he cited the “profound” consequences the bill could have on children struggling with gender dysphoria, as well as their families, and said his decision came down to input from parents who believed that life of their children depended on the treatment they received.

“Ultimately, I think it’s about protecting human life. Many parents have told me that his son would not have survived, he would be dead today, if he had not received the treatment he received at one of Ohio’s children’s hospitals. I have also been told by those who are now adults that, if they had not received this care, they would have taken their lives as teenagers,” she said.

Cole, who previously took steps to complete a transition from female to male and has since been among the most outspoken critics of gender-affirming child care, said DeWine’s veto came just days after she shared her story with him during a Zoom call.

“When I described each step of the treatment, and especially when I mentioned how young I was at each step, when I was 13 when my puberty was suppressed, when I was attracted to androgens, and I was 15 when my breasts were suppressed. When they surgically removed it, he was visibly distraught,” he said.

“He knows how horrible it is to do this to children. His decision to continue with this… is not just a matter of pure incompetence or ignorance.”

Cole previously told Fox News Digital that he feared the painful side effects of gender transition procedures would never stop, adding that he had lost trust in his health care provider and perhaps even health care in general.

She revisited the discussion during Sunday’s segment and told Fox News’ Rachel Campos-Duffy about the “lie” that “activist doctors” sold her parents.

“They were told that the decision was going to be between one [of] There are two things: having a very suicidal and eventually dead daughter or a living transgender son, but that is not true. These children do not commit suicide because they were born in the wrong body. “This is a totally psychological issue and these children are not getting the help they need,” he stated.

“They need psychiatric help. They need to know that they are perfect in the bodies they were born with. If he [DeWine] If you truly believe in your heart that perfectly healthy children can be born wrong and need to be corrected, I think you should be removed from office.”

Governor DeWine’s office declined a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
