Disney on Ice artist left in “critical” condition after falling during “Beauty and the Beast”

An ice skater who plays Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” was left in critical condition Saturday after falling mid-performance during a Disney on Ice show in Minneapolis.

The skater fell to the ice during a mishap while another performer was lifting him into the air, officials said in a statement obtained by KARE 11.

The artist was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she was said to be in critical but stable condition Sunday morning.

The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.

A local mother, identified by the station as Beka, said Belle appeared to be “shaking” before falling during the lift she did alongside an actor playing the Beast.

“They were picking her up, she seemed shaky and she fell,” the mother said, adding that the injury occurred about 40 minutes after the 11 a.m. show.

“I am beyond grateful for the remaining staff and artists who continued because that preserves the magic for the children. I know it must have been very difficult,” she added.

Horrible video images of the incident shared on X shows the actor playing Belle appearing to have seizures while lying on the ice, while the actor playing Beast looms over her and doctors rush to her side.

Disney on Ice said it “appreciates our fans’ well wishes as our team member recovers.”

The company added that the injured performer was not a local Minnesota skater, but rather a member of the production.

The show is scheduled to run through Sunday in Minneapolis.
