Divya Venkatasubramaniam (also known as Kanika and Kaniha) is an Indian film and television actress, voice artist, playback singer and television presenter. She worked in the Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada entertainment industry. She was crowned Miss Chennai 2001.
Birth and early life
Divya Venkatasubramaniam was born on July 3, 1982 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. His father’s name is Venkat Subramanian. He always had a fascination with music and acting, but he never thought of pursuing them as a professional career. In the year 1999, the Government of Tamil Nadu awarded him the prestigious Tamil Nadu State Award for Educational Excellence. Since then, Ella Kaniha began training in modeling and acting. Meanwhile, she also won the 2001 Miss Chennai beauty pageant.
Renowned director and producer Susi Ganesan saw her on the cover of a magazine and offered her to play the female lead in her film Five Star.

Kaniha began her career with the Tamil film Five Star as Eshwari in 2002. She appeared in the Telugu romantic comedy drama film Ottesi Cheputunna as Divya in 2003. The same year, she appeared in the Kannada film Annavaru as Subbulakshmi. The film is inspired by the blockbuster Thalapathi. In 2006, she acted as Sneha in the Malayalam drama film Ennittum. Kaniha was cast in the 2009 Kannada film Rajakumari as Rajakumari. She is the official remake of the Tamil film Anantha Poongatre.
The following year, she played Tulasimani, Pisharody’s adopted daughter, in the Malayalam neo-noir horror action film Drona (2010). She played the role of Sainaba, Shahjahan’s only sister, in the film To Noora with Love in 2014. In 2016, she appeared in the Malayalam crime thriller film 10 Kalpanakal as Sara. She hosted television shows such as Mea Thangavettai from 2007 to 2008 and the annual children’s quiz show Chutti Vikatan in 2008.
