Three Indian restaurants in the United States celebrate this Diwali with great joy, especially since they were awarded the prestigious Michelin star for their exceptional gastronomic offerings, they are Rania in Washington DC, led by chef Chetan Shetty, Semma in New York City, by chef Vijay Kumar, and Indienne In Chicago by chef Sujan Sarkar.
The well-known restaurants combine innovative concepts with traditional Indian flavors and serve unusual dishes such as beef ribs with saffron sauce and chaat with shiso leaves at Rania, lobster dishes at Semma inspired by chef Kumar’s childhood in Tamil Nadu and versions contemporary. Traditional dishes like pani puri in Indienne that are infused with passion fruit.
Sarkar offers progressive tasting dinners at Indienne. Imagine a grilled seafood podi (squid in malai curry, with saunas and podi) or passion fruit pani puri.
Shetty, who worked for years at New York City’s Indian Accent, toys with the look and taste of Indian food at Rania.
Consider dishes like grilled maitake mushrooms and beef short ribs with saffron and nihari, as well as North Point oysters served with moringa podi and Amritsari hollandaise sauce.
