Elite Software Automation, a US-based IT company, sent the email to a candidate who had taken a test for the position of frontend software engineer.

Where did the email go viral?

A screenshot of the email was posted to Reddit’s “anti-work” community, where it shocked thousands of people. The post, which was published on Thursday, received more than 900 upvotes and hundreds of comments.

What did the email say?

The email begins with “Thank you for applying for the Frontend Software Engineer position.” Notifies the person that their application was rejected because they did not pass the automated online test.

The email goes on to state that the candidate will be permanently blacklisted if they apply for the same position before the end of the year or write to the company for a second opportunity.

“Any repeated attempts to apply for this position again before this time, or any attempt to retake the test will result in an automatic rejection of your application, as well as the blacklisting of your profile for future applications” , one of the lines in the email said.

How did people react on the Internet?

The screenshot of the email has received mostly negative comments since it was posted. “Honestly, that’s the harshest rejection letter I’ve ever seen,” one user said.

“Seriously this is like a walking red flag, imagine how they treat their actual employees,” another person said. “Jesus Christ, I’d make sure to apply again just to make sure this excuse of a company blacklists me,” a third person said.

“So companies no longer wait for you to be hired to show how toxic they are,” said a fourth.
