Donald Trump Jr. warns his father about rumors that Nikki Haley will be elected vice president

Donald Trump Jr. drew a line in the sand for his betting father: no Nikki Haley.

The former president’s son threw cold water on the idea that former President Donald Trump would select his former ambassador to the UN as his running mate. Trump Jr. was adamant about using his influence to ensure Haley didn’t get the job.

“I wouldn’t accept it and I would do everything I could to make sure that doesn’t happen,” he told Newsmax’s Eric Bolling in a recent interview.

“Nikki Haley wants endless wars. She is a puppet of the establishment in Washington, DC. “She is the new front-runner of the billionaire class because they want control, no different than academia and Harvard and use their billions for influence.”

Haley has soared in 2024 Republican primary polls in recent weeks, ranking within four points of Trump in a recent American Research Group poll.

She served as Trump’s U.S. ambassador to the UN from 2017 to 2018. Amid her rise in the polls, there have been some murmurs about her as his vice president, including from former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R- California).

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign has upset her over talk about the vice president, recently launching a website for Trump-Nikki 2024.

In recent weeks, Trump has asked some of his confidants what they think of Haley’s performance as vice president, CBS reported.

Haley has quelled speculation about vice presidential aspirations, insisting that “I’m not running for second place.” Additionally, she has criticized Trump, saying that he is followed by “chaos and drama.”

Trump Jr. took note of Haley’s rise in the polls.

“Ron DeSantis has shown that he doesn’t have what it takes to be on that stage. He has embarrassed himself like that,” he surmised. “She is now the preferred candidate.”

His sister-in-law, Lara Trump, has expressed openness to the prospect of a Trump-Haley ticket.

“Crazier things have happened,” he previously told Newsmax. “I would never say never with Donald J. Trump.”

Trump Jr. is not the only MAGA star to express dismay over such a ticket.

“MAGA would revolt if Nikki Haley was even granted an internship in the next Trump administration,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) predicted on X earlier this month.

“She represents the last wing of the American neoconservative establishment of the Republican Party that we are done with.”

The Post has reached out to Haley’s campaign for comment.

Nationally, Trump leads the 2024 Republican field, followed by DeSantis and then Haley, according to the latest aggregate from RealClearPolitics.

Trump has been coy about who he will choose as his running mate, although he previously feuded with former Vice President Mike Pence.

Haley and DeSantis are set to face off in a CNN debate next month ahead of the Iowa caucuses on January 15, 2024.

Trump’s relatives appear to have significant influence on such decisions. Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has claimed that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, ruined his chances of landing a top job in his administration.
