Dramatic footage captured the “heroic” rescue of a 19-year-old driver who was trapped under an overturned 1.5-tonne car after driving at high speed on a Georgia highway.
The teen was running around 11 p.m. last week through Lawrenceville, a city 45 miles northeast of Atlanta, when he lost control of the car and crashed into a median, police said.
After being partially ejected from the sunroof, the driver became trapped between the road and the car, severely restricting his airway.

Several children emerged from the back seat of the car and desperately pleaded with the responding officer, “Please help us!”
“You, you and I will lift this car right now,” Sergeant Peterson ordered.
The group tried their best to lift the car, but struggled under the vehicle’s massive 3,600-pound weight.

Fortunately, a second car of Good Samaritans and three other Lawrenceville officers stopped to help rescue the trapped driver, giving them additional strength to lift the vehicle.
“Come on, we’ve got this!” Peterson can be heard saying.
Moments later, the injured teenager fell from the small space opened by his group of rescuers.

“[The] “The heroic actions of Lawrenceville Police Officers and Good Samaritans saved the life of a driver,” Lawrenceville Police said.
The 19-year-old driver was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for several injuries suffered after the accident.
When he is discharged, he will face charges of speeding, reckless driving, fleeing to elude a police officer and unsafe lane changes, the department told Fox News.
