In the early hours of Monday morning, security guards manning the Eiffel Tower found two drunk American tourists who had broken into the Parisian landmark. The sloshed tourists were found sleeping in the iconic tower after they got stuck in the monument “because of how drunk they were.”
Drunk Americans End Up Asleep After Breaking Into The Eiffel Tower
The two men visited the Eiffel Tower on Sunday night. The Americans got drop-dead drunk and slithered into a part of the Tower that is normally closed off to tourists, which is the area between the second and third levels of the tower.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (Sete) mentioned that it was apparent that the two tourists did not pose a threat to the monuments or other citizens’ security.
According to AFP, the intoxicated men bought tickets for the Eiffel Tower at around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday night. In their befuddled state, the two tourists hopped over the security lines on their way down and ended up in the restricted area.
The firefighters and special forces, who are trained to rescue people from dangerous heights, were called in to the 1080-foot-tall tower in order to save the stranded tourists. In Paris’ Seventh District, the tourists were questioned by the police, and Sete was informed that they would be filing an official complaint against the two men.

The Incident Led To Opening Delay Of The Tower The Next Day
The incident blew up because the officials had to delay the opening of the tourist attraction, which notably attracts millions of visitors a year. This incident played out just days after the Eiffel Tower had to be evacuated due to a bomb threat.
The staff escorted all visitors from the three levels, including the square below, as a precaution to avoid any casualties. However, shortly after the evacuation, Police confirmed that the threat was a hoax and advised that the monument could reopen by August 12.
This is not the first time the Eiffel Tower has fallen prey to the bizarre antics of American tourists. Previously, an American woman claimed that she was smitten with the Eiffel Tower. The 50-year-old woman, Erika LaBrie, came out as a crusader for object sexuality.
Soon after her love for the Parisian monument went viral, a video surfaced in which she is seen straddling a red fence and expressing the workings of her love for objects.
