Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has announced a four-day Eid Al Adha holiday for workers in the private and non-profit sector in the Kingdom. The Eid Al Adha festivities for the sectors will begin on June 27 and end on Friday the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah, corresponding to June 30.

Bakrid (Eid-al-Adha) or Eid ul Azha coincides with the completion of the annual festival holy pilgrimage, hajand is known as the “festival of sacrifice” as it commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son to show his dedication and submission to Allah.
According to the Qur’an and Islamic traditions, Allah tested Prophet Ibrahim’s faith by twice ordering him to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Ismail, only to stay his hand when he complied despite the devil trying to misdirect him. Allah was so pleased with Ibrahim’s submission to him that he made this display of sacrifice and faith a permanent part of a Muslim’s life.
To commemorate the event, Muslims slaughter cattle and distribute the meat in three equal parts: one for the household, one for relatives, and one for the poor.

The celebration begins after the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and lasts for three days.
Devotees dress up and wear perfumes when heading for congregational Eid al-Adha prayers in mosques or Eidgahs (prayer places) anytime after sunrise until just before the noon or Zuhr prayers.
After the prayers and sermon, devotees head home to celebrate the occasion with their families, hugging and singing Eid takbir along the way, usually taking a different route to meet and greet more people.
Depending on the country, Eid-ul-Adha celebrations can last between two and four days. The act of Qurbani (sacrifice) takes place after Eid Salaah (Eid prayers), which are performed in congregation at the nearest mosque on Eid morning.
