Evidence shows Iran trained Hamas on how to produce and use precision-guided missiles: Israel

Israel says it has uncovered evidence that Iran trained Hamas on how to produce and use precision-guided missiles, suggesting the terrorist group has significantly improved its weapons capabilities.

“Under Iranian direction, Hamas operatives learned to operate and build precision components for the production of missiles and strategic weapons,” the Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday.

“This is indicated by the findings of IDF troops at a weapons production site located in a 100-meter-long Hamas tunnel discovered in Daraj Tuffah, north of Gaza.”

Photos of the weapons production site showed what the IDF said was a rocket motor and cruise missile warhead built by Hamas.

The accompanying video posted on United Nations.

It is unclear exactly what led the IDF to conclude that the technology came from Iran, but Israel has previously suspected the nation of attempting to supply guided missiles to proxy groups, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

Hamas missile components discovered by the IDF indicated that they were building precision-guided missiles.

Before the newly discovered tests, Hamas was believed to be equipped to use only unguided missiles, according to the Times of Israel.

The discovery was far from the first evidence that Iran has been helping Hamas in its fight against Israel, since before the deadly Oct. 7 attack that left 1,200 dead in the Jewish nation.

In November, Israeli forces discovered documents showing that Hamas’s military leadership had requested that Iran provide financial support to send people to study engineering, physics and technological development at Iranian universities, according to CNN.

“This example is another piece of an elaborate puzzle of a deep infrastructure of building, supporting, financing and training terrorist proxies by the Iranian regime around the world and specifically in the Gaza Strip,” an Israeli official told CNN in that moment.

It is well documented that Iran provides support to extremist groups throughout the Middle East, and representative organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen are known as the “Axis of Resistance.”

These groups are dedicated to the destruction of Israel and the eradication of Western influence in the region.
