The ex-boyfriend of one of the world’s youngest lottery winners was shot dead in an altercation on New Year’s Eve.
Jane Parks, 28, is the youngest EuroMillions winner in the UK, having won £1 million ($1.22 million at current exchange rates) in the lottery in 2013, when she was just 17. years.
She had been linked to Marc Webley, 36, for about a year in an on-off relationship.
But on Sunday, Webley was shot dead during New Year’s celebrations in his hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland.
The incident is said to have taken place outside the Anchor Inn in the north of the city moments before people celebrated the New Year at midnight.
Webley was a well-known figure in Edinburgh’s mafia scene, having previously served 11 years in prison for shooting a rival gang.

He was acquitted of two attempted murders last year after being accused of repeatedly crashing his car into another vehicle with two people inside.
Park revealed that he had spoken to Webley the night before his death.
“’I can’t believe I’m writing this. We talked yesterday. “If I could hug you again and tell you everything is going to be okay, I would give anything to do it, Marc,” he wrote on Monday.
“In the months we spent together, you taught me some valuable things in life and I will never forget you.
“I am absolutely devastated. The best bed for you is up there, my handsome one.”
Park had previously posted photos of them together on social media, including the photo she reposted today, but the relationship appeared to be over when she wrote on Dec. 17, “There’s nothing worse than being single on a Sunday.”
Police Scotland confirmed there were road closures around the pub after the New Year shooting.
“Road closures have been made at Granton Road and Granton Crescent following an incident which was reported to police at around 11.50pm on Sunday, December 31,” a spokeswoman said.
“Officers are on scene and closures will remain in place while investigations continue to establish all the circumstances.”

Locals reported hearing gunshots in the area where it happened and said they initially believed it was fireworks.
“At first I thought it was fireworks, then I saw all the blue lights, ambulances and armed police,” one person told local publication Edinburgh Live.
“It was chaos right before the bells rang.”
Webley’s older brother Don posted a photo of them together on social media after her death.
Park left a single love heart as a tribute in the photograph.
