Shatta Wale, formerly known as Bandana and born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. on October 17, 1984, is a reggae-dancehall musician and producer of Ghanaian descent. He achieved his biggest hit with the song Dancehall King, which helped him win the Artist of the Year award at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards.

On October 17, 1984, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. was born at Accra Police Hospital, Ghana. His father, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Sr., is a politician, businessman and lawyer from Accra and the Volta region of Ghana. At the National Theater of Ghana, Shatta Wale acted in a well-known Akan drama series called By the Fireplace while studying at the Seven Great Princes Academy in the Dansoman neighborhood of Accra.
Throughout his career, he won several awards and was honored for his music. He was also awarded as a dancehall artist in Africa and the second most awarded musician in Ghana. According to reports, he releases nearly 100 songs every year that include reggae, dancehall, and Afrobeats. Because of his music, he also made headlines among the top hit songs in the industry.
