Shatta Wale, formerly known as Bandana and born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. on October 17, 1984, is a reggae-dancehall musician and producer of Ghanaian descent. On October 17, 1984, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. was born at Accra Police Hospital, Ghana. His father, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Sr., is a politician, businessman and lawyer from Accra and the Volta region of Ghana. At the National Theater of Ghana, Shatta Wale acted in a well-known Akan drama series called By the Fireplace while studying at the Seven Great Princes Academy in the Dansoman neighborhood of Accra.

Throughout his career, he won several awards and was honored for his music. He was also awarded as a dancehall artist in Africa and the second most awarded musician in Ghana.
