On October 17, 1984, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. was born at Accra Police Hospital, Ghana. His father, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Sr., is a politician, businessman and lawyer from Accra and the Volta region of Ghana. At the National Theater of Ghana, Shatta Wale acted in a well-known Akan drama series called By the Fireplace while studying at the Seven Great Princes Academy in the Dansoman neighborhood of Accra.
