A Bronx Family Court judge abruptly withdrew from a child custody case after the mother involved publicly accused the jurist of approaching her through a swinger app, The Post has learned.
Judge Cynthia Lopez, 47, announced her recusal Monday during a brief virtual conference call with her father’s attorney, Sidney Southerland.
The shocking turn of events came last week, Southerland claims, when a woman named “Cynthia” approached her on 3Fun, “the leading app for sexually free singles.”
“GM,” the woman wrote in a message shortly before 8 a.m. on Jan. 24, using slang for good morning. “I’m Cynthia. How are you?”
Southerland, who called herself Chyna on the app but used her real photo, provided a screenshot of the alleged message to The Post, along with the sender’s alleged profile, which shows a photo of Lopez, dressed only in black heels and a black robe, sitting cross-legged on a sofa.

The profile lists the woman as bisexual, with a male partner identified only as “Ant.”
The sender had no qualms about what she was looking for, stating in her public profile:
“We are a complete exchange [couple] in a [ethical non-monogamy] Dynamic looking to have sexy and hot fun with another complete exchange. [couples] and single women,” he wrote. “We love fat girls as much as we love little girls! At the end of the day, it’s all about personality. Southerland didn’t mince words in his response:
“Bitch, you know who the fuck I am,” Southerland recalled saying.
The sender quickly blocked her, but not before Southerland said he managed to take images of the initial exchange and the profile.
“I plan to file a complaint,” Southerland added, speculating that Judge Lopez was delaying his custody case because he was trying to sleep with her.

“She just wanted to see me. There was some kind of attraction and that worries me. “I’ve been fighting for my kids for two years and you’re giving me a hard time because of some sexual attraction,” she told The Post.
Southerland made her complain audience in a video on TikTok and Xtwo days after supposedly receiving the initial invitation.

The TikTok post quickly reached the city’s Administration for Children’s Services, which in turn referred the matter to the state’s Office of Judicial Administration. ACS declined to comment.
“The Court has been informed of this claim and is reviewing it,” an OCA spokesperson said, when asked about the judge’s alleged escapades and whether they led to her recusal.
Southerland’s legal troubles began on July 28, 2021, when NYPD officers burst into her mother’s Bronx apartment and arrested her, according to a lawsuit she filed against the city in September 2022, alleging that The police did not show any cause.
