A Florida husband and wife were shot to death in their home on Saturday, just a week after getting married, according to reports.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said it had arrested a suspect, Sony Josaphat, in connection with the murders in West Palm Beach.
The names of the victims were not released after shocked relatives invoked a Florida law that prohibits the identification of crime victims.
“I’ve never been happier than I am now,” a relative of the bride said, telling WPTV that she and her husband had just gotten married the previous Saturday, which was also the bride’s birthday.
A photograph from the couple’s wedding shows the victim, a longtime nurse practitioner, smiling broadly alongside her new pastor husband.
The victims, who regularly attended a local church, were originally from Haiti, the woman’s sister said.

Three of the wife’s children were inside the house when Jehoshaphat is said to have shot her and her spouse to death.
One of his adult children reportedly witnessed the shooting.
Neighbors in the normally quiet community said they heard loud bangs but thought the couple was working on their home.

They called the police and found both bodies with multiple gunshot wounds.
Homicide detectives quickly identified Josaphat as a suspect in the case and executed a search warrant at a home on the same block.
Josaphat was detained after a brief interview inside the residence.
Police have not yet revealed a motive for the murders.
Josaphat faces two counts of first-degree murder and was ordered held without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court again early next month.
