The daughter of a furniture maker and his wife, Luigia Lollobrigida was born in Subiaco, Lazio. Giuliana, Maria, and Fernanda, her three sisters, were born in 1924, 1929, and respectively (1930–2011). When she was younger, Lollobrigida performed some modelling and competed successfully in a number of beauty pageants. Around this period, she started making cameo appearances in Italian movies.
In the age of 18, Lollobrigida performed in the farce Santarellina by Eduardo Scarpetta at Monte Castello di Vibio’s Teatro della Concordia, the tiniest theatre all’italiana in the world.
