Cause of death of Gino Mader
Unfortunately, there are times when horseback riding is even riskier than contact sports like soccer and wrestling. Gino Mäder’s cause of death was a bicycle accident during Stage 5 of the Tour de Suisse. In the case of Stage 5 of the Tour de Suisse, riders must travel hundreds of kilometers through challenging terrain, with occasional fast technical descents to the finish line. Accidents such as Gino’s catastrophic collision can occur as a result of these descents. Gino and American cyclist Magnus Sheffield were involved in a high-speed accident on the descent of the Albula Pass at the end of the stage, with just 14km of the 211km stage remaining. In less than two minutes, a doctor arrived on the scene and discovered Gino “immobile in the water.” Magnus, a 21-year-old who suffered a soft tissue injury and concussion, appears to be making a good recovery.
Gino was not so lucky, though he was quickly revived and evacuated to a hospital in Chur. In a formal statement, the Bahrain-Victorious team said: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Gino Mäder.” “This tragic accident has left our entire team in shock, and during this especially difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Gino’s family and loved ones,” he read in the statement. The statement added: “Despite the best efforts of the outstanding staff at Chur Hospital, Gino was unable to overcome this, his final and most important battle, and at 11:30am we said goodbye to one of the brightest members of our team. Gino was a remarkable athlete, a role model for his tenacity and a beloved part of our team and the cycling world in general. His skill, commitment and his love for the game have motivated us all.
Gino was found unconscious and submerged in water, suggesting that what happened during the collision that led to his death was likely related to how he was discovered. He had already been unable to breathe for a few minutes, so any extra damage to his organs would have made his wounds potentially lethal. In memory of Gino, the team made the decision to finish the race on the bike. So this was all about this case. So, keep an eye on PKB news.
