Grace Vanderwaal was born on January 15, 2004 in Lenexa, Kansas. Her father’s name is David Vanderwaal and her mother’s name is Tina Vanderwaal. Her father is of Dutch descent. In 2007, her family moved to Suffern, New York, due to her father’s promotion as vice president of marketing at LG Electronics. She subsequently moved to South Carolina. Career
Grace started singing at the age of three. She started writing songs by watching movies and imagining what would happen if she were there in any character’s place. Then she, feeling, she started writing the songs. After that, she taught herself how to play the ukulele, just by watching videos of playing the ukulele.
In 2015, he began posting covers of his songs playing the ukulele on YouTube. She also began performing at open mic events at small venues near her home. In 2016, she auditioned for season 11 of the NBC reality show America’s Got. She sang her original song “I Don’t Know My Name” and won the Golden Buzzer. In the end, she sang “Clay” and was announced as the winner of season 11. In 2017, she began working on a full-length album called Just The Beginning.
