Group of Muslim-American voters vow to ‘abandon Biden’ over Gaza war

Muslim American leaders from nine swing states, furious with President Biden for siding with Israel in its war against Hamas terrorists, launched a campaign Saturday to oust the commander in chief from the White House.

“We announce today that President Biden has lost the 2024 election,” organizer Jaylai Hussein, head of the newly formed #AbandonBiden National Coalition, said at a conference at a Hampton Inn in Dearborn, Michigan.

The coalition includes representatives from Muslim communities in Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, nine states with significant Muslim minorities that could make or break Biden’s re-election chances, organizers said.

“Goodbye and goodbye,” Hussein added.

The #AbandonBiden 2024 campaign will “guarantee Biden’s loss in the 2024 election,” the group promised, due to his “unwillingness to call for a ceasefire and protect the innocent” in Gaza.

Angry attendees labeled the president “Genocide Joe” as they repeated claims made by Hamas terrorists.

“We cannot allow Genocide Joe to have another term in office,” said organizer Hassan Shbly of Florida, accusing Biden of being “directly responsible for the deaths of 10,000 children” in Gaza, a death toll touted by the terrorist group. which has not been confirmed.

“Right behind me, what Mr. Biden should see is 111 electoral votes,” Hassan Abdel Salam, a professor of global studies at the University of Minnesota, told reporters at a news conference during the meeting.

According to the Arab American Institute, the country’s estimated 3.45 million Muslim Americans have traditionally supported Democrats in national elections.

Support for Biden among Arab American voters has plummeted by 42%, according to an October poll. AP

But an October national poll sponsored by AAI found that Muslims were abandoning Biden in droves as Israel intensified its fight against Hamas in Gaza.

Only 17% of Arab Americans surveyed said they planned to vote for Biden in 2024, compared to 59% who said they had supported him in 2020.

It was the first poll in AAI’s 26-year history to find less than majority support for the Democratic Party among Arab American voters.

The steep 42% drop could make a difference in closely divided states like Michigan, Arizona and Georgia, where Biden defeated former President Donald Trump by razor-thin margins.

“Our goal is to return America to the right side of history by punishing Biden and making him a one-term president,” said Khalid Turaani of the Michigan Task Force on Palestine.

Michigan, for example, is home to more than 277,000 Arab Americans, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, making Muslim votes a crucial component of Biden’s 154,188-vote victory over Trump in 2020.

Organizers hinted that a third-party candidate could win the group’s endorsement, but acknowledged that their campaign could result in the former president’s return to office.

“We do not support Trump,” Hussein said.

“But we’re not going to make the mistake of thinking about President Biden the way we thought.”
