The lead singer of Guns N’ Roses, Axl Rose, was denounced this Wednesday in New York for sexually assaulting the model and actress Sheila Kennedy in a hotel room more than 30 years ago, in 1989.
In the lawsuit, to which Rolling Stone magazine has had access, Kennedy accuses Rose of sexually assaulting her the night they met at a New York nightclub, where she went to meet the rock band.
“He treated her like property used solely for his sexual pleasure. He did not use a condom. Kennedy did not consent and felt dominated. She felt she had no escape or way out and was forced to consent. She believed that Rose would essentially attack her, or something Worse, if she said no or tried to push him away. She understood that the safest thing to do was to lie on the bed and wait for Rose to finish attacking her,” the lawsuit argues.
At the New York nightclub, the vocalist invited Kennedy, MTV host Riki Rachtman and another model to a party in his hotel room, where the singer allegedly offered the guests cocaine and alcohol.
At first, Kennedy and Rose kissed, a gesture that was consensual, “unlike the sexual encounter they later had,” as the lawsuit explains.
After this, the artist began to have sexual relations with the other model, and proposed to Rachtman and Kennedy to have “group sex”, but they both rejected him and left the room.
As he went out into the hallway, Kennedy heard the sound of a glass falling against the floor and the singer calling the model with whom he was having relations at the time a “whore.”
the attacks
It was then that he left the room and headed angrily to Rachtman’s suite, where he found Kennedy: furious, he knocked her down, grabbed her by the hair, and dragged her across the floor back to her room, making her bloody. knees.
There, placed face down on the bed, he tied her hands behind her back with stockings and raped her: “She was lying, with her hands tied behind her back, bleeding, vulnerable and alone with Rose while he was in a state. “. of sexual and volatile rage,” the lawsuit argues.
This is not the first time that Axl Rose has been accused of sexual assault: in 1985, he was accused of abusing a 15-year-old girl, and in the 1990s, his then-wife, Erin Everly, accused him of spitting on her, hitting her, tied and dragged by the hair several times, as well as having forced her to sleep with him.
Kennedy filed the complaint thanks to a one-year legal window to seek justice for past sexual crimes, enabled by the New York State Adult Survivors Law, which expires this Thursday.
