Her father, Dr. Haridutt Bhatt, was a Hindi poet and also a teacher in the same school, with the pseudonym “Shailesh” and her mother’s name is Shail Bhatt. She completed her studies from The Doon School, Dehradun. After that, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and pursued a postgraduate Master of Science degree in organic chemistry. She later entered the National School of Drama to pursue her career as an actress in 1982.

Career
Shivpuri achieved great success in Ab Ayega Mazaa films in 1984. After that, she acted in films like Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Vaastav: The Reality, Pardes, etc. She was widely recognized after Sooraj Barjatya’s blockbuster Hum Aapke Hain Koun. …! (1994). In 1994, she made her television debut with DD National’s show Humrahi as Devaki Bhojai.
