A man who investigators believe may be homeless was charged Friday for his alleged role in a fight on a SEPTA platform in which another man died when he was pushed onto the tracks.
Chaz Latone Wearing, 40, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the Thursday afternoon fight in University City, NBC10 reported, citing the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
Charges are subject to change if additional information comes to light.
Wearing currently has an arrest warrant for an unrelated strangulation case in Delaware County, the outlet added.
Wearing’s criminal history also includes cases in Clinton and Lycoming counties, public records showed.
Disturbing footage of the fight at the SEPTA station showed two men, one of whom is believed to be Wearing, yelling at each other just inches from the edge of the platform.
The suspect punched the other man twice, knocking him onto the tracks just as a train pulled into the station.

Wearing was arrested at the next stop, police said.
The victim has not been publicly identified.
Philadelphia Police Inspector Kpana Massaquoi told NBC10 that the incident “appeared to be some type of physical altercation.”
“We don’t know exactly what happened before that to start this, but it’s being investigated right now,” he said.
Wearing was arrested at the train station after the fight. This incident occurred on the platform of the Market-Frankford line.
Locals say traffic violence has increased in recent years.
“It’s not too surprising,” Jennifer McCray, of Upper Darby, told WPVI of the tragedy.
“It has increased a lot in recent years, especially after the pandemic. I think there could be more police presence to contain the crowd and the violence,” she added.
The Philadelphia Prosecutor’s Office did not immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment on the case.
