They explore the cause of death of sister Patricia Terry Holland
Sister Patricia Terry Holland, wife of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, passed away on Thursday, July 20, at the age of 81, after a faith-filled life of commitment, service, and witness. Sister Holland, a former general officer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is recognized for her unwavering support of her husband and her efforts to spread love and light throughout the world. She is the mother of three children, the grandmother of 13 grandchildren and the great-grandmother of five. Born February 16, 1942, in Enterprise, Utah, to Maeser W. and Marilla Terry, Sister Holland embraced the values and traditions of her pioneer ancestors.
Since leaving the small farming town where she grew up, her faith has seen her through marriage, motherhood, general Church leadership, public recognition of her husband’s callings, and, in more recent years, through a disease that has shown its strength and character. After Elder Holland left town on a Church assignment on a cool fall night in 2014, Sister Holland went to bed at her daughter’s house with a chest cold. The next morning, she couldn’t breathe. Sister Holland asked if she was having a heart attack because she had no idea what was going on. Her visit to the emergency room was rushed by her relatives. A few days later, it was identified that she had a dangerous type of pneumonia.
Sister Holland’s husband was directed by doctors to gather his family while she fought for her life in the hospital bed. Elder and Sister Holland’s eldest son and General Authority Seventy, Elder Matthew Holland, said, “That’s one of the few pivotal moments in family history.” “Suddenly appeared”. He went on to say that the next thirty days were bleak. “He seemed to be on the edge of life.” Sister Holland received numerous blessings, but she didn’t seem to be getting better.
