Cause of death of Professor Nimi Briggs
As for Prof. Nimi Briggs, her full name was Nimi Dimkpa Briggs. He was a Nigerian academic, researcher, and professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology who was born on February 22, 1944. Briggs attended Nyemoni Primary School in Abonnema and Baptist High School in Port Harcourt. He then enrolled in Umuahia Government College to finish his secondary studies. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Lagos in Nigeria in June 1969.
Briggs was twice Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt. He served as Acting Vice Chancellor from 1995 to 1996 before being re-elected in 2000 and remaining until 2005. He previously served as Chairman of the Nigerian Universities Vice Chancellors Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Hospital. Between 2007 and 2008, he was appointed Chairman of the Rivers State Economic Advisory Council and the Rivers State Community Foundation, as well as Director of the Center for Health and Development at the University of Port Harcourt. According to sources, he was facing an old age disease in his last days. That disease was the cause of his death. His family is going through a difficult time with his firing.
