Even having autocomplete entries can make a search go faster, it can also put you in embarrassing circumstances. This is especially true if you don’t want anyone else to know what you’re looking for.
Because of this, I’ll walk you through the actions you can take to clear autocomplete and clear any autocomplete that already exists on your own computer and in browsers running on Windows.
Before I get into the details of the tips I’ve compiled below, I’d first like to explain the difference between disabling and removing autocomplete.

delete vs. Remove AutoFill
Clear autocomplete is the process of removing suggestions that are displayed in a web browser’s address bar or search bar as you enter. This is known as clearing autocomplete. Alternatively phrased as “removal of autocomplete recommendations”, this action can also be taken
Delete autofill, on the other hand, is the act of erasing information held in the browser’s autofill settings, such as names, addresses, and credit card numbers. This can be done by selecting the “AutoFill” tab in the browser settings. If you remove this information, the browser will not be able to pre-populate fields in web forms in the future. This feature is often used to save users time when filling out forms on websites.

How to remove AutoFill in Google Chrome browser?
When you’re sure your Chrome browser has the latest update, remove the autocomplete by following these instructions:
- open chrome
- Click on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the screen (it should be next to your profile picture)
- Click Settings
- On the left side, choose AutoFill.
- A list of products that use AutoFill (ie Password Manager, Payment Methods, etc.). Click each item you don’t want autocomplete to be used for and uncheck everything.

How to clear existing AutoFill data in Chrome?
- open chrome
- Click on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the screen (it should be next to your profile picture)
- Select History, then History again in the resulting menu.
- In the left panel, click Clear browsing data.
- Select the Advanced option
- Select All Time from the Time Range menu (this step may depend on which version of Chrome you have)
- Make sure AutoFill form data is selected. Check any other options you want to remove.
- Select Clear data

- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the three dots located in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Select Settings
- The menu default should be set to Profiles. If not, choose this option from the menu on the left.
- Turn off Passwords, Payment Information, and any other autofill settings in the Your Profile section.
How to clear existing AutoFill data in Microsoft Edge?

- Select Settings
- Select Privacy, Services and Search
- Select Choose what to clear under Clear browsing data.
- Select All Time from the Time Range menu.
- Select the Autocomplete Form Data box (Includes Forms and Cards). Select more options that you want to remove.

How to remove AutoFill in Firefox?
- Open Firefox
- Click on the three lines displayed at the top right of the screen
- choose configuration
- Choose Security and Privacy
- Uncheck the settings in Forms and AutoFill for which AutoFill should be disabled.
