Have you been waiting all day to exercise? A new study suggests that if your goal is to lose weight, the best time to exercise is during the day, especially early in the morning.
What did the study suggest?
At Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, researchers found that the connection between exercise and weight loss was more powerful in the early morning compared to midday or evening workouts.
Professor Rebecca Krukowski, who was not involved in the study, said: “This is exciting new research that is consistent with common advice for achieving exercise goals: that is, schedule exercise in the morning before receiving emails. , phone calls or meetings that may distract attention. you.”
When should you exercise?
The study found that performing moderate to vigorous exercise between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. is the most effective time for weight loss.
Where is this studio from?
The study was published in the journal Obesity.
How does the study was realized?
Previous studies have examined how often, how intensely, and for how long a person exercises, but the researchers set out to investigate whether the timing of exercise influences physical activity outcomes.
They analyzed data from 5,285 people using information from the 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The researchers classified physical activity patterns into three groups: morning, midday and evening.
Additionally, participants shared their dietary habits through self-reported dietary recall. This data showed that those in the morning group tended to have a healthier diet and consumed less energy daily relative to their body weight compared to the others.
The results revealed that people who exercised early in the morning had a lower body mass index (BMI) and smaller waist circumference compared to the other groups. Surprisingly, this particular group was also the most sedentary of the three.
