IITian couple add their Alma Maters on wedding invitations

Taking what most thought was humor, a couple entertained the Internet recently when a screenshot of their wedding invitation circulated on the Internet. On Twitter now X, a user named Mahesh shared a wedding invitation and wrote, “All you need is love to get married.”

The image was marked in red to point out the obvious and fun stroke of the wedding invitation. Any average wedding invitation would have the usual name of the groom and the name of the bride. Some also add the names of parents and in-laws. Others add a special message on behalf of the youngest member of the family.

All of these additions are pretty standard. However, the Internet was not stunned by these usual lines, but was rather baffled by the special mention of the couple and their respective alma maters in the wedding card.

Apart from the groom’s name, ‘Piyush Bajpayee’, there was a proud mention of ‘IIT Bombay’, from which the groom presumably graduated. Similarly, for the bride, ‘Mamta Mishra’, her alma mater ‘IIT Delhi’ was mentioned.

Bizarre wedding antics are on the rise in India

Although weddings in India have begun to incorporate strange traditions such as a wedding dance or the groom riding a bala instead of a white mare to the wedding venue, this addition of educational qualifications on the card brought the strangeness of Indian weddings to the fore. to a whole new level.

The authenticity of the wedding invitation is still unclear, but it seems like something a big, proud Indian family would do. The Indian public is known for their love and great respect for the numerous IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) spread across the country.

The name of the university itself is a big enough flexibility for a family, but having two IITians bond and come together is the ultimate dream for an average desi household.

People on the Internet were not very enthusiastic about the invitation. One user sarcastically suggested that it would be better if they also added the stream that the couple had studied as well as their AIR (All India Rank).

Transmit bhi likh dete. AND AIR. So we know who is the dominant and the submissive in this relationship.

Another chimed in and suggested the couple add their salary packages, which are supposed to be bulky, to their wedding invitations as well.

I was there. It was also mentioned in kaju katli, wedding cake and even chaat. The guests were also instructed to mention it in the shagun ka lifafa.

Disappointed that they didn’t mention your main, salary, and LinkedIn profile in that invitation.
