The airline, which reported the incident on Thursday, stated that the emergency landing was necessary due to a medical emergency on board.

Despite quick changes to land in another nation, the passenger did not survive and was certified dead upon arrival.

Why did the flight have to land in Pakistan?

“A medical emergency occurred on board IndiGo flight 6E 68, which was flying from Jeddah to Hyderabad.” “The flight was redirected to Karachi, where the passenger was treated by a doctor upon arrival,” the airline said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, the passenger did not survive and was pronounced dead on arrival,” the statement said. After a brief delay in Karachi and completion of necessary formalities, the plane departed the city at 0908 IST.

How was the situation handled?

In August, an IndiGo pilot named Captain Manoj Subramanyam fell to his death at the boarding gate of Nagpur airport, just as he was about to board a plane bound for Pune.

Following the incident, IndiGo issued a statement and expressed condolences to the family of the deceased. “We are deeply saddened by the death of one of our pilots in Nagpur today.”

He fell ill at Nagpur airport and was taken to hospital, where he tragically died. “Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.” Despite the death of the pilot, the IndiGo flight took off at 1:24 p.m., 14 minutes later than scheduled.

When has it happened before?

It is not the first time that an Indian plane has had to make an emergency landing in Pakistan. In July this year, at least two planes of IndiGo and Spicejet landed in Karachi.

Spicejet flight from Dubai to Delhi was forced to land in Karachi due to fuel shortage. Following the emergency landing, it was discovered that the problem was due to a faulty fuel indicator light in the cockpit.

Meanwhile, IndiGo aircraft 6E-1406 from Sharjah to Hyderabad developed a mechanical problem and was diverted to Karachi as a precautionary measure.
