Days after two outages crippled Facebook Inc’s (FB.O) services, Instagram announced Monday that it is testing a feature that will notify users of outages or technical issues directly in the photo-sharing app.
Instagram said in a blog post that the trial will take place in the United States and will last for a few months.

According to user reports from web monitoring firm Downdetector, many users had problems with Instagram on Monday.
The company also plans to release a feature that would make it easier for users to see if their account is at risk of being disabled.
Following the outages, the social media giant has been the subject of memes and jokes on Twitter. It is also about claims by former employee-turned-whistleblower Frances Haugen that the company prioritized profits over cracking down on hate speech and misinformation. Know more
Haugen has agreed to meet with Facebook’s supervisory board in the coming weeks to update them on what he learned while working at the company. She handed over documents supporting a Wall Street Journal investigation and a Senate hearing into Instagram’s harm to underage girls.
