Investigators unearth ‘items of interest,’ pantyhose, at BTK killer Dennis Rader’s former estate

Agents unearthed remains of pantyhose and other “items of interest” during a new search of BTK serial killer Dennis Rader’s former Kansas estate as part of an investigation into missing persons and unsolved murder cases.

A “pantyhose ligature” was discovered on Park City-owned land during an excavation in April and potential new evidence during another search this week, Osage County Sheriff Eddie Virden told Fox News on Wednesday.

Investigators returned to the site of the notorious killer’s home on Tuesday to pursue leads in cold cases potentially related to Raer, who admitted to killing 10 people between 1974 and 1991.

“The short version is, through research, we developed information on some potential Dennis Rader trophies, followed those leads and worked with Park City,” Virden told Fox. “He dug up the area. And we recovered some elements of interest”.

It’s unclear if the items collected during the excavations are related to any of the 10 known murders committed by Rader, who called himself BTK for “blinding, torturing, killing,” or if they could be potential evidence in unsolved cases.

The search for the property began at least in part due to the 1976 disappearance of 16-year-old Cynthia “Cyndi” Dawn Kinney, in which Rader is the prime suspect. The high school cheerleader disappeared after leaving her relatives’ laundry room in June of that year.

The items were found under a concrete slab where Rader reportedly told others that he had hidden “trophies” from his victims decades ago that had “never been found.”

“The theory is that he could have placed case evidence under the stone pavers under the metal shed that he built in the early to mid 90s. Like driver’s licenses in jars,” Rader’s estranged daughter previously told Fox. , Kerri Rawson.

The sheriff clarified that they did not expect to find human remains on city property.

“We weren’t looking for bodies, we were looking for items,” Virden told the station. “We found some items. We cannot reveal what they are.”

The findings, including the pantyhose, will be turned over to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the sheriff said.

Rader was arrested in 2005 after his DNA was positively matched to matching semen found at the scene of his first murder of a married couple and two of their young children.

He confessed to 10 murders and was sentenced to 10 consecutive life sentences. However, the serial killer previously denied involvement in Kinney’s disappearance.

Last month, Rader made headlines when he wrote a letter to Fox News comparing himself to Gilgo Beach murder suspect Rex Heuermann, calling him a “clone” of himself.
