Israeli army canines work as four-legged scouts, securing buildings and even eliminating Hamas terrorists.

They are the war dogs of Israel.

The army’s canine unit is helping map Palestinian buildings before troops enter – and even eliminate hiding terrorists – while wearing body cameras and climbing through holes too small for humans, newly released video shows.

Israel’s Oketz Unit, the army’s canine special forces, is sending its four-legged soldiers “in a large number of cases” to try to help save lives, the Times of Israel said in a report on Sunday.

“The dogs located threats, mapped buildings and discovered weapons,” Times of Israel correspondent. Emanuel Fabián said in X.

A canine named Toy was sent to a building in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City and discovered a passage between a building where IDF troops were stationed and a separate building where a Hamas gunman lay in wait, the outlet reported.

In another close call, a military canine named Patrick was deployed with the 460th Armored Brigade in Jabaliya and was sent to scout a building before troops entered.

An Israeli military canine named Patrick subdued a Hamas terrorist who was waiting to ambush Israeli troops in Gaza, Israel said. He meets “Toy,” the Israeli army canine who eliminated a Hamas terrorist hoping to ambush Israeli soldiers in Gaza. Toy, the army dog, is part of a special unit trying to detect terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

Patrick found and subdued a terrorist who was planning to ambush soldiers, Israel said.

Israeli footage shows the dogs, with charging lights and body cameras, climbing into bombed-out buildings at all hours of the day over rubble and through holes in the walls too small for humans.

Other clips show dogs leading troops up stairs or around blind corners of buildings.

Israeli troops moved into Palestinian-occupied Gaza after the October 7 sneak attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists, an attack that killed about 1,200 Israelis, most of them civilians.

Since then, thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli counteroffensive, which has also left hundreds of thousands of Palestinians homeless on Gaza’s borders.
