On October 15, in what could only be described as a “miracle”, Winston was discovered 12 miles away in the garden of a Bolton resident. Fortunately, a microchip helped confirm his identity. However, the poor cat was in poor condition, having lost both its sight and hearing.

Carr explained her cat’s condition: “Basically, he had been so starved that his body had broken down all his fat, releasing toxins into his blood and poisoning his brain.”

Although he had finally been reunited with Winston, the cat was far from well. Carr recounted: “When we first went to pick him up, they said things weren’t looking good for him; he was very sick and they weren’t sure if he would live.”

Veterinarians managed to save Winston’s life, but it cost almost $8,500. After the feline’s week-long stay in special care, the mother cat said: “It was truly a miracle that this happened, as at that time he only had a few hours to live because he was so hungry.”
