Japan’s Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki tries Pani Puri in Varanasi; Internet Says: ‘Golgappa Diplomacy’ | Look

Along with Pani Puri, the Ambassador of Japan also had a great time with Varanasi Thali.

Pani puri is one of the most famous street foods in India. There is not a single place in the country where popular food is not found or loved. From their potato fillings to different types of flavored water. this dish goes by various names across the country. Recently, Prime Minister of Japan Kishida tried ‘golgappe’ together with Prime Minister Modi during his visit to India.

Now, Japanese ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki has also shared his newfound love for this dish. On Twitter, she shared a video of him eating pani puri in Varanasi.

“I really wanted to eat golgappe ever since I saw PM Modi @narendramodi and PM Kishida @kishida230 eating them together,” he wrote, sharing the little clip.

As the video begins, he is seen receiving a garland and flowers. Moments later, he can be seen sitting in a restaurant and eating the delicious pani puri. His gesture clearly shows that he is enjoying the dish very much. He later he too says, “Aalo ki khushbu muh mai bhar jati hai, very tasty (The taste and smell of potatoes fills the mouth, very tasty).” As he concludes the video, he comments, “Too good!”

In another tweet, the Ambassador said. “I also enjoyed a pure Banarasi Thali, after watching the mystical Night Aarti. Thank you all for such warm hospitality.”

Earlier, during his visit to India, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited the Bal Bodhi tree at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi, where he also tried different dishes.

Video of Prime Minister Modi and Fumio Kishida sampling various Indian delicacies was also shared on the ANI news agency. It shows the leaders talking and walking in the park, enjoying ‘lassi’, ‘golgappe’ and ‘aam-panna’.
