Joel Kim Booster Early Life
Booster was born in South Korea, adopted by an American couple, and fostered into a conservative, white, evangelical Christian family when he was just a baby. His family homeschooled him and he grew up in Plainfield, Illinois.
At the age of 16, he went to public school for the first time, and recorded his experience with the words “the first time he was around non-religious people.”
He was already aware that he was gay since his childhood, but decided to keep it a secret for fear of the consequences he would face for belonging to a conservative society.
