We are saddened to inform you of the passing of our beloved Johnny Garza. Johnny was a young, vibrant individual whose life was tragically taken from us in a terrible accident. In a head-on accident on Louisiana Highway 1 in Lafourche Parish, a 27-year-old Cutoff man tragically lost his life. Louisiana Highway 1 is currently closed in both directions due to the crash. Initial investigations indicate that the victim, Johnny Garza, intentionally drove into oncoming traffic, causing a severe collision with another vehicle. The Louisiana Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash. Our thoughts and prayers are with Johnny’s family and friends during this difficult time.

One morning on Louisiana Highway 1 in Lafourche Parish, tragedy occurred as a result of a single-car accident. According to the Louisiana Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 1 and Cutoff Road in the town of Cutoff. Johnny Garza, 27, of Cutoff was traveling north on the highway when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the 2013 Ford Fusion traveling in the other direction. Both vehicles caught fire and Johnny Garza was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was treated for moderate injuries and taken to a local hospital.
Louisiana State Police have determined that the accident was caused by a collision between two vehicles traveling in opposite directions. According to the initial investigation, Johnny Garza, 27, of Cutoff, was traveling northbound in his 2014 Chevy Silverado when he crossed the center line and collided with the 2013 Ford Fusion, resulting in the fire destruction of both vehicles. Louisiana State Police said Johnny Garza was pronounced dead at the scene despite first responders’ best efforts. The loss of this promising young man leaves a void in the community that will never be filled. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.
