World Food Safety Day – June 7

World Food Safety Day is an annual global celebration held on June 7 to raise awareness of the importance of food safety and promote actions to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018 and is jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

1893 – Mahatma Gandhi performs the first act of civil disobedience

On June 7, 1893, Mohandas Gandhi, then a young Indian lawyer recently arrived in South Africa, was asked to change from the first-class compartment of a train even though he had a valid ticket, just because he was not white-skinned. .
