Mahindra praises government for using ‘force’ to save Navy veterans

Doha on Monday freed eight Indian Navy veterans sentenced to death in Qatar, marking a major diplomatic victory for India. Following diplomatic intervention by New Delhi, the death penalty was changed to a long prison sentence.

Qatar freed 8 Navy veterans

Responding to desperate demands by families of Navy veterans for their release and safe passage back to their homeland, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) promised to use all diplomatic channels and offer legal assistance to bring them back.

Seven of the eight former Navy officers have already returned to India, according to an official statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday.
