With the Maserati MC20, the trident company makes a grand return to the world of supercars: Maserati Project24. However, the Italian brand has a very clear new objective: to conquer that world.
The Project24 is a unique racing supercar based on the beautiful Maserati MC20. Not only does it have a very stylish design, but it also tries to get the most out of the already powerful engine of the MC20. The Maserati Project24 is built with a carbon fiber monocoque and has a very aggressive looking carbon fiber body.
Maserati has only shown three rendered images so far, but these are enough to show extreme sensations and key parts of the redesign, such as the very tall rear wing, massive front splitter and boxy rear diffuser with tailpipes. The elegant two-door body has double headlights in the middle and many air intakes and air outlets.

The Project24 has the same 3.0-liter Nettuno V-6 engine as the MC20. However, its new turbochargers raise power to 740 horsepower, which is an increase of 119 horsepower compared to the MC20’s 621 horsepower (will it be able to break the 330 km/h barrier?).
The MC20’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been replaced by a six-speed sequential racing gearbox with paddle shifters. The MC20’s electronically controlled limited-slip differential has also been replaced with a mechanical one.
Maserati Project24 will have rear-wheel drive
The Project24 will have rear-wheel drive like the MC20, and Maserati wants to keep dry weight below 1,250kg. This would make it around 226kg lighter than the MC20. Although Project24 is a track car designed to be as light as possible, it will have air conditioning.
Similarly, the powerful Maserati Project24 will be about two inches wider than its street version. It will also have 18-inch forged aluminum wheels with expensive racing tires. Their ventilated Brembo brakes are made to stop quickly, and their unequal-length control-arm suspension with adjustable shocks and front and rear sway bars make these supercars fast when racing down the street.
The Maserati Project24 is built to meet the safety standards of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). It has a roll cage inside the cockpit, so it does a very similar job to the safety halo on Formula 1 cars.
Inside this big muscle car, there will be racing seats with six-point harnesses, an adjustable pedal box and steering column, and a carbon fiber steering wheel with a built-in screen.
There are still customization options, but owners will also be able to add a rearview camera, in-car camera, tire pressure monitoring system, and telemetry recording.
How much will it cost to buy a Maserati Project24?
Maserati said its new “rolling gem” will be very rare because it only plans to make 62 of them, and hasn’t said when they’ll go on sale.
