Kate Cosentino is an American singer and songwriter. She is best known for competing on the 23rd season of NBC’s reality singing show “The Voice,” led by Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan. She is originally from Kansas City.
Who is Kate Cosentino?
Born and raised in Kansas City, Cosentino has been playing guitar and singing since she was in first grade. Her family’s good taste in music rubbed off on them, and when she was six or seven, she became obsessed with Hannah Montana and Guitar Hero 3. This inspired her to take guitar lessons.
Two years later, in third grade, he hired a singing teacher who introduced him to Regina Spektor. After listening to her music, she knew that writing and performing was her true purpose in life.
At age 18, Cosentino was selected as one of nine artists from across the United States chosen to write a song for the new American Girl doll: Tenney.

Career
Cosentino has always been drawn to powerful storytellers and melodic hooks from the beginning. Influenced by musicians such as Regina Spektor, Norah Jones, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent and more, her artistry was recognized by initiatives such as the Nashville Ballet, Bluebird Cafe’s Emergence Series, and the Johnny Mercer Foundation’s Songwriters Project.
He founded Big Chick Energy, a guitar strap company, and even received the Taco Bell Scholar award after achieving a wide range of accomplishments and goals.
One of his greatest accomplishments is writing an original song for the American Girl Doll character Tenney Grant, which appears in the brand’s books, products and video games.
His EP ‘Note to Self’ was released in May 2022 and received praise from various outlets including Rolling Stone India.
Cosentino spends her leisure hours skateboarding, endlessly scrolling through TikTok, and fantasizing about becoming the first female band leader on a talk show.
Cosentino performed on Dionne Warwick’s “I Say a Little Prayer” during The Voice Blind Auditions and received three turns from Chance the Rapper, Chance the Rapper and Kelly Clarkson. Later he decided to join Team Niall.
Musical influences
Cosentino has shared that Regina Spektor has been the biggest influence on his songwriting. They noted her unique and unapologetic lyrics and how she had a magical way of making her music have an emotional impact.
Additionally, Lianne La Havas has inspired her to play the guitar, which is one of the reasons she studied jazz guitar. She further said,
