The film, narrated by Shigeru Tsuyuki in the Japanese original, takes viewers on an exciting adventure. On July 12, 1986 it became available in Japan. Later, on August 25, 1989, Columbia Pictures produced an abridged version in English with narration by Dudley Moore and a screenplay by Mark Saltzman. Although the film depicts the endearing relationship between two adorable creatures, it has generated some controversy due to concerns over animal care during production.
But “The Adventures of Milo & Otis” remains a beloved film for its charming lead and its moving story of friendship and exploration. There was a lot of controversy surrounding “The Adventures of Milo & Otis” due to allegations of animal cruelty during production. Animal rights organizations in Australia, such as Animal Liberation Queensland and the RSPCA branches in Tasmania and Victoria, raised concerns about the abuse of animals in the film. Animal Liberation Queensland founder Jacqui Kent said that during the filming, more than 20 kittens were killed and other animals were injured.
