On May 21, 1991, when former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by an LTTE terrorist. This day is a reminder of that incident and the disharmony it brought to the nation. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, during a rally. Rajiv Gandhi succumbed as a result of an explosion that occurred after a bomber hit his feet. The bomber banked and an explosion followed, killing the prime minister and twenty-five other innocent people.
India was among the 25 nations most affected by terrorism, according to the 10th edition of the Global Terrorism Index, but it was also among 56 of the 120 countries surveyed, with none of the respondents choosing war and terrorism as the biggest threat to their daily security. .
