Nevada Substitute Teacher Accused of Forcing Sixth Graders to Kiss

A Nevada substitute teacher has been accused of encouraging two sixth-grade students to kiss and make “inappropriate” comments, including asking the class if they have a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Parents of students at Legacy Traditional School, a charter school in north Las Vegas, were reportedly shocked to learn of the teacher’s comments, about which they received an email on Thursday, two days after it occurred. the shocking incident.

Students in the sixth-grade class were encouraged to “kiss each other” by the substitute teacher, who also used “inappropriate language,” according to the email sent to parents, obtained by 8 News Now.

“Who asks a sixth grader, ‘Who has a boyfriend and girlfriend?’ Kids really aren’t here for that. They are here to learn,” Anais Gallegos, who has two children in school, told the media on Friday.

“What my daughter told me, no, it’s not right,” Gallegos said. “The director needs to do something because a simple email won’t be enough.”

Robynn Bell’s son, who was also a student in the class, said all of the students were made uncomfortable by the substitute teacher’s actions.

Bell also criticized the school for waiting two days to warn parents about what happened, saying some parents missed the opportunity to discuss the incident with their children right after it happened because they didn’t know it had happened.

“None of us had a chance to talk to our kids about this the day it happened when we got home, or the second day after. So, I really feel like it’s a failure of communication,” Bell said.

Legacy Traditional said in a statement that it notified the North Las Vegas Police Department about the incident.

“After school, it was brought to our attention that the substitute teacher, who provided us with an outside substitute teaching agency, was making inappropriate comments toward the students. “The substitute teacher was not employed by Legacy Traditional Schools and will not return to a Legacy campus,” the school said in a statement.

The surrogate agency is conducting its own investigation into the incident, according to the statement.

“At Legacy Traditional Schools, we maintain a strict policy of no tolerance towards any form of inappropriate behavior. “The well-being of our students remains our top priority and we recognize the importance of fostering a safe, inclusive and nurturing school environment,” the school added.
