Men can really make women laugh until they fall asleep with a good sense of humor. This makes them appear more intellectual and more likely to become higher earners. This is what a new study claims.

How does the study was realized?
In the study, 162 women were recruited for a speed-dating style experiment in which they were shown images of six guys. The men, similar in appearance, had been chosen because the women thought they were moderately handsome. Each man then made an “ice-breaker” comment, which could have been a humorous joke, a horrible joke, or an insipid statement about his favorite color or pizza.
Women, on the other hand, were much more likely to indicate that they would offer the man in the photos their phone number if they thought he had made a clever joke.
Unfortunately, the study indicated that unfunny guys were no more likely to receive a woman’s phone number than those who made no attempt at humor. Follow-up research revealed why funny men are more likely to win the lady.
When 81 women were asked to rate pictures of eight men, half of whom had told a hilarious joke and the other half had made an unfunny joke, they rated the funny guys as more intelligent. They were also considered to have greater earning potential than ungraceful men.
“Funny guys may appear more competent to women, as indicated by the fact that they rated them as more intelligent in their study,” said Dr. Mitch Brown, who led the study at the University of Arkansas.
“If women believe that, they can believe that men will do better in their careers, meet more people, understand how to play and make more money.”
What observations did the study reveal?
According to the study, published in the journal Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences, men use comedy to convey to women that they are interested in them and to bond with them by laughing together.
Women seemed to appreciate men’s attempts at comedy, even if they failed. The study found that women rated witty and unfunny men equally well on their agreeableness.
Research with 162 women, on the other hand, found that women expected men to be more successful in getting a spouse if they were fun. After viewing the pictures and the men’s supposed words, the women were asked to rate the men’s friendliness, likelihood of dating success, and likelihood of giving them their phone numbers.
Men who crack jokes run the risk of coming off as warm, friendly, and good boyfriend material, or backfiring and making them look like unreliable show-offs interested in playing the field.
Researchers asked 108 women to judge men with funny, unfunny statements about whether they would choose them for a long-term relationship to see where they stood.
Fun men were preferred for long-term partnerships, indicating that they were considered loyal and trustworthy partners. Women also preferred them for short-term relationships, although with a smaller advantage over less-than-fun men.
The “funny” men in the study were given lines that women previously considered funny, such as “The past, present and future were arguing.” “It was stressful.”
Another was: “Cremation: my only hope for a smoking hot body.” ‘What is the name of a tiger with glasses?’ said one of the unamused men. A tiger scientist.
Women valued a good sense of humor, but good looks also seemed to be crucial, as a group of 141 women rated funny guys as even more desirable when their photo was pretty rather than unattractive.
