Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has narrowed former President Donald Trump’s lead in the New Hampshire primary as she is now within single digits of first place, according to a new poll.
Haley is 7 percentage points behind Trump among likely Republican voters in the Granite State, according to a CNN poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire and released Tuesday.
The poll shows that the former South Carolina governor received the support of 32% of voters compared to Trump’s 39% support.
Support for Haley in New Hampshire has increased since November, increasing 12 percentage points since the last CNN/UNH poll.
The source of the former UN ambassador’s substantial rebound in the polls lies in her strength among moderates, independents and those with college degrees, voting blocs where Haley has, in some cases, huge double-digit leads over the former 77 year old president.

Haley leads Trump by 42 points among moderates, 26 points among undeclared voters and 12 points among college graduates, while the former president leads the 51-year-old former governor by 40 points among conservatives, 37 points among registered Republican voters and 17 points among those who did not go to university.
Besides Haley, no other candidate is within striking distance of Trump with the New Hampshire primary two weeks away.
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has 12% support, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has 8% and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has plummeted to 5%, according to the CNN/UNH poll.
A USA TODAY/Boston Globe/Suffolk University poll also shows Haley making significant gains over Trump, but still puts her 20 points behind the former president in the nation’s first primary.

Trump leads Haley in New Hampshire by 46% to 26%, according to the poll released Tuesday, with momentum coming from the former South Carolina governor.
In October, the same poll found Trump with a 30-point lead over Haley, but the former president’s support has fallen 3 percentage points since then, while the former governor’s has risen 7 percentage points.
If Christie dropped out of the race before the Jan. 23 contest, many of his supporters would flock to Haley, the poll found, but not enough to put the former U.N. ambassador over the top.
Trump’s lead over Haley shrinks to 47%-32% in that scenario, but Christie insists he has no plans to drop out of the race.
New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Chris Ager declared last month that Haley, who received New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s coveted endorsement in December, can “absolutely” win the Granite State.
“Expect the unexpected,” Ager told “Cats & Cosby Show” host John Catsimatidis.
The chairman of the state Republican Party noted that with two debates coming up in New Hampshire, one on Jan. 18 presented by ABC News and WMUR-TV and another on Jan. 21 to be broadcast on CNN, and with voting on the same day, if “Someone catches fire, this is the place where they can do that.”
