Smriti Bhadauria and Kartik Vasan decided to challenge the norm in a world where settling down often means adopting routine.

Smriti, a digital marketing specialist, and Kartik, an IT consultant, are the original influencers of the open road. The two said in an exclusive interview with the leading media outlet that the idea for their epic journey came from unexpected places, and that Bollywood played an important role, particularly in Smriti’s case.

As luck would have it, their offices transitioned to remote work in 2018, prompting the unexpected purchase of a vintage van, which set the stage for their trip.
When did the two get married?
Their marriage in 2020 meant the realization of their shared wish, setting the ideal conditions for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Their Pan-American odyssey began in Canada during confinement, which led them to flee the residence.
Choosing the outdoors for the first few months meant avoiding big cities and limiting contact with strangers.
The couple chose the Pan-American Highway, the longest highway in the world, spanning 30,000 kilometers through 15 countries from North America to South America. It was an opportunity for Smriti to experience human connections, diverse landscapes and rich civilizations.
How did the Pan-American voyage come to an end?
The Pan American journey concluded in December 2023 in the resort city of Ushuaia, Argentina. The duo, however, are not resting on their laurels. A break is needed as they want to build a larger RV for future trips to Asia and Europe.
